Sixty-four years of last calls
Every bar says it's a neighborhood bar. Here's our receipts.
The Regular opened in 1962 with twelve stools, one tap, and a hand-painted sign. The sign's been repainted four times. The promise on it hasn't changed: cold drinks, fair prices, and a seat for whoever walks in.
How we got here
- 1962
Doors open. First drink sold is a lager and a handshake. Both are still on the menu.
- 1974
The jukebox arrives. It has survived two floods and every argument about what counts as yacht rock.
- 1988
The patio gets built by regulars over one long weekend. Payment: a summer of free pitchers.
- 2003
First trivia night. The same three teams have been feuding ever since.
- 2020
The neighborhood keeps us alive with to-go orders and merch. We keep the lights on and remember it.
- Today
Same stools, more taps, your name remembered by the second visit.
Things the regulars know
- Open since 1962 — the jukebox is younger than the bar but older than you.
- The dartboard has settled more arguments than any lawyer in the neighborhood.
- Regulars' mugs hang above the bar. Earn one. There's a waitlist.
- The patio string lights have survived three storms and one very ambitious raccoon.
Of the neighborhood, for the neighborhood
We sponsor the little league team that has never won. We host the block association's meetings (they're rowdier than trivia). Our staff live within walking distance and our happy hour is priced for the people who actually live here. When you drink here, the money stays on the block.
- Local breweries always on tap
- Free space for neighborhood groups, Mondays
- Staff poured from the neighborhood, paid like we mean it
- An annual party where the bar pays the tab
